The way most builds go
If you’ve ever asked a builder what something costs and gotten back “it depends” or one big number with no breakdown, you know the feeling. You’re about to spend more than you’ve ever spent on anything, and you can’t see where the money goes.
That’s normal in this industry. Costs get kept close to the vest, and buyers pay for it in surprises, change orders, and a nagging sense that they’re guessing.
What we do instead
We show clients exactly what things cost, line by line, from framing to fixtures. We call it our Real Numbers approach.
In practice, that means:
- Line-item pricing. [Describe what a client actually receives, e.g., a full cost breakdown before contract.]
- Clear explanations. When a number looks high, we tell you why. When there’s a cheaper option, we say so, and what you’d give up.
- No mystery at the end. [Describe how you handle changes or overages, in your own words.]
Why we do it this way
Plenty of our clients have been burned by vague estimates before, and we’d rather earn trust than ask for it. Showing the numbers means the conversation stays honest, and the buyer gets to make real decisions about where their money goes. [Add a short client story or moment here if you have one.]
It’s also how we work on our own projects. On Kimball Street, our five custom spec homes in Lake Oswego, [share one specific cost decision you’re comfortable making public].
What’s next
Over the coming weeks we’ll keep sharing our work: what goes into a build, what things cost, and what we’ve learned along the way. No pressure, we’re just getting acquainted.
Here when you need us.
